The New Mexico Jewish Historical Society and Texas Jewish Historical Society announce the webinar, “West of Hester Street and the Galveston Movement: Jewish Immigration in the Southwest,” scheduled for Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, October 30-31, 2021.

Originally planned as a “hybrid” conference with in-person attendance and simultaneous livestreaming had to be changed due COVID-related health and safety precautions.

The classic film “West of Hester Street” will be available for viewing to registered participants prior to October 30. The filmmakers, Allen and Cynthia Mondell of Dallas, will open the two-day program, along with outstanding speakers, for a discussion of the Galveston Movement that took place between 1907 and 1914. Panels of family members will also discuss how their lives have been affected as descendants of immigrants who arrived in America during this unique time in Jewish history.

The full schedule and registration links are available at www.nmjhsevents.org and can be accessed through the TJHS website, www.txjhs.org. To register, click here.
