On December 2, Shalom Austin CEO Rabbi Daniel A. Septimus was featured in The Austin Business Journal profile for his efforts in helping shape the future of Jewish Austin.
The article highlights the skills and mindset required by Septimus to execute Shalom Austin’s multimillion-dollar Generations capital campaign. Nearing completion of what has been more than a decade in the making, Shalom Austin is gearing up to unveil the much-anticipated brand-new $25 million dollar Dell Jewish Community Center as well as the fully renovated fitness facility at the JCC within the coming months.

As Septimus told Austin Business Journal in a recent interview, “I went to rabbinical school. So I didn’t have a construction 101 class or even architecture 101 class,” Septimus said. “The key thing is to have an incredible committee of very experienced lay leaders, and sometimes a professional, who can help you decide who’s the best architect and the best contractor and the best civil engineer that will help us bring our vision to life and to fruition.”
The full interview is available here.
Additionally, Septimus was recently named as a Top 100 People Positively Influencing Jewish Life. In response to the rising antisemitism, Septimus said, “I think for us, it’s how we constantly respond to it proactively and reactively and how we as a community come together with other communities outside the Jewish community to stand in solidarity, to fight against it.”
In the December issue of The Jewish Outlook, a Shalom Austin publication, Septimus told readers in his CEO message The new center building will be transformative for our community, providing new and meaningful ways for all to connect with one another.”
